Welcome to Abbeyview House B&B

We are based on the outskirts of award winning village of Abbeyshrule, and a short drive to Ballymahon Town. Abbeyview House is a period property and steeped in local history. It was built in the mid 1800s by by George Eldon Coates, a local mill owner,  and was later used as a Garda Barracks from 1922 to 1969, but is now a family home on a small working farm of cattle ,sheep, horses and hens . It has been restored to a high level of comfort and contains all modern conveniences but has retained its many original features.   Abbeyview House is situated just a 2minutes walk from the Royal Canal Greenway, a walkers dream but also a paradise for those cycling or looking to pursue water based activities such as canoeing or fishing. The  River Inny flows at the bottom of the lands of the property and there are slip ways extremely close by for both the Royal Canal Greenway and the River Inny. As Abbeyview House is located in almost the centre of Ireland and this is of huge benefit when visitors want to encapsulate the beauty of Co.Longford but also the surrounding counties of Westmeath, Cavan, Roscommon, Leitrim etc.  We are more than happy to help with any query and if we cannot help we will do our best to send you in the right direction.

Abbeyview House has partnered with Midland Cycle Hub and you can arrange to collect or drop off your hired bicycle from us , we also can prepare a light packed lunch for you to take on your trip. Coming In late 2021 Abbeyview House will be extending their accommodation to provide 2 self contained Shepherd huts with sleeping area, kitchenette and en suite, there will also be 1 wheelchair accessible Glamping Hut which also has its own wet room and kitchenette.
